The Fleur Haut Gaussens 2016 Grand Vin is a tripartite blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. It has an endearing bouquet with pure, ripe black cherries mixed with blueberry and violets, quite Margaux-like in style. The palate is very well balanced with lush blackberry and boysenberry fruit laced with pencil lead and cedar. This feels harmonious and long in the mouth, building but not overwhelming the senses toward a crisp and edgy finish. This is a sumptuous Bordeaux that is almost too easy to drink, so have a second bottle handy.
